Our FOUR areas of commitment

The Lesotho Sky Event cares about social change and uplifting of communities. We have four areas of focus:

1) LOCAL TEAMS

Through corporate sponsorship options we facilitate the participation of six local teams in the event. This includes sponsor kits, upgrading of bicycles and equipment where necessary and coaching about stage racing, correct bike setup and much more. The event also lets the local riders test their legs against some international competition and gives them an opportunity to show their talent to the world.

2) SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

- The qualified timing experts and race commissaires from GreatTime provide training to a Basotho commissaire.
- Our mechanics will train a Basotho before and during the event

3) YOUTH PROJECTS IN COMMUNITIES

Our current project is in Ha Ramoshabe (between Morija and Malealea), where in the course the year we will provide 5 bicycles and mechanical training. The objective is to develop business skills, sportsmanship and attract tourists to communities.

4) TOURISM

We are promoting Lesotho as a (mountain biking) destination and are actively promoting routes that involve both lodge and community based accommodation for cyclists. Features in magazines (Getaway, Go-Multi and SA national newspapers) are scheduled for July/August 2012. We work together with the Lesotho Cycling Federation and have made most of our routes freely available on MTBroutes.co.za Lesotho offers perfect trails all year round!

In 2011 we financially supported the Ha Matela Youth Centre in Morija.
